As some of you may be aware, many of you may not be, SMASH! is an anime and manga convention held annually on the first weekend of August, traditionally held at the “Roundhouse” at the University if New South Wales. But, because of such large attendance numbers last year, they moved the venue to Town Hall, as well as having it only on the Saturday, instead of the weekend.
It’s late right, now, I’m tired and junk from a busy day out… Here are some of the photos so you can get a general idea of how things were, and at the very end, I’ve included some of my general thoughts about the convention.
And, sadly, I didn’t have the guts to cosplay anything…
If you are looking for photos of cosplayers, please visit one of my other posts.
SMASH! is one of the few anime conventions we have in Australia, and is one of three that are held in Sydney. (The other festivals are both Animania, during March and September)
As always, queues are long, and it’s much better if you have an pre-registered ticket, it’s much better, and you don’t have to wait as long. (Like me!)
And, there’s nothing like a… Samurai rock star? to entertain you while you wait.
So, being one of the first few dozen in, the halls were generally empty, but filled up quickly. But first off, we’ll start with the stalls.
I was considering buying the Kanon collection… but it’s in a flat-pack!!! I want a pretty box!!!
Toufu~!
(Seems I managed to take a photo of a person taking a look at “When they cry” =D)
Yay! Nendoroids!
Nothing like a good old classic game of Donkey Kong eh?
Nothing like a good hardcore game of Asian right?
See, easily more full later on…
*Notices the Nanoha Takamachi -Exceeded Mode- by ALTER back in the Anime Excess booth. =P Too expensive for me though…
Now, to take a look at some of the Gundam displays eh? Some are pretty cool!
I like this ramen/noodle one.
Now I’ll let you see some of the Dollfies on display.
And now, some of the other events going on that day. We didn’t go into the Maid Cafe this time… Don’t know why we didin’t…
A Wacom Cintiq
People working hard at drawing their own masterpieces!
Just part of the Graffiti wall, that sold for… I forgot… A hundred and something? At the Charity Auction around mid-day.
Cosplay Chess I find is always a fun event to watch. Black one this time.
And, now, I direct you to some of the artist works. Most of which was really cool… I wish I could draw…
Hugging pillows anyone?
Okay, so that was pretty much what I saw/did at SMASH 2010 in a photo kind of album like thing.
As always, I find that Anime conventions are fun to visit, and I can’t wait till Animania in September!
