Daily Life – 03.07-19.07.2011

Back to school today… Not the most fun day, but rarely is school ever fun.
And school… that’s now what I’m blogging about today.

My July winter holidays was an interesting mix of doing nothing, and several rather standout highlights.
For me, there was plenty of good food, money being thrown around here and there… You know, whatever an under 18 can do legally. =P

So my first event was my old Food Tech buddy Nick and his sister’s birthday “partaaayyy”. Mario themed, we hijacked his 64 and played some classic Mario Kartz.

I play around with my new Logitech MX Revolution mouse… It’s one of those things that you don’t realise you’re missing until you spend the unnecessary amount of money to get one. (like high-end audio systems)
It’s ergonomic! and I love the hyper-scroll scroll-wheel! You realise how uncomfortable other mice are and honestly, you begin to hate any other mouse because they don’t fit and scrolling is so slow…

Payed a visit to Rockpool Bar and Grill, one of Australia’s top restaurants run and owned by Neil Perry, my favourite Australian somewhat-celebrity chef.

The lighting (as with most restaurants) was poor for photography, and these photos were taken with my sister’s Canon Powershot S95, and have been n00b-shopped by me. I would have done a proper write up if I had better photos.

The interior of Rockpool I think is amazing… The somewhat old art-deco style somehow gives a very… contemporary feel to the place.
Very nice marble pillars shall I say… And the wine glass display…
Wow…

Two of the Entrees we chose were:

Joselito Iberico Jamon, Jamondul Serrano Jamon Reserva, Trevelez Serrano Jamon, Picaron Parma Prosciutto (Top)

Ceviche of Scampi, Snapper, Cucumber and Jalepeno (Bottom)

I WANT MORE OF THAT CEVICHE!
Brilliant combination of seafood and sour with that kick of Jalepeno that really complemented each other.

As you can expect with Rockpool, it is pricey. My lamb dish here cost $52.

But damn was it good.
Pictured above was my “Milk Fed Pure Suffolk Lamb with Fried Artichoke and Aioli”, a little overshopped…

First time I’ve had Artichokes too.

“Chocolate Jaffa Mousse Cake, Rockpool circa 1992”
Wasn’t that much of a fan of the Moouse Cake… Maybe I don’t like chocolate that much, but it certainly looks pretty.

And to finish:

“The Ciampini” – Chestnut Meringue and Ice Cream Sandwich

My first proper Ice Cream sandwich.

Arghegrhegwhe~!!!
YUM!

All I have to say. =D

(Oh, and they’re Profiteroles in the background.)

As you may be aware, SMASH!, Sydney’s Manga and Anime Show (Convention) was held just a few days before this post and so you can find my write up about SMASH! here.

In regards to my Anime watching; this “Summer” season, I originally only planned on following Blood-C (mainly for Mizuki Nana’s ED and her seiyuu-ing, CLAMP is a bonus). Then I got caught up with some of the Tweeters I follow and so I ended up watching some of YuruYuri. =/
So far I’ve only seen the pilot of Blood-C. Wasn’t all that spectacular. Nana-chan was kind enough to give us a cute little song near the beginning as Saya. (the character she’s seiyuu-ing) That was enough to make me happy, while the overly bleeding stone statue was a little huh? OP and EDs are okay, and animation is very CLAMP. (y)
YuruYuri… First minute of it, I was instantly reminded of K-ON! Some would argue that as a good thing, but not for me… But I like to give everything a chance and so I went on with it… and people were not kidding that it’s loaded with “yuri goodness”. A little concerning to me, but definately not my first shoujo-ai anime, and I will admit that I do have “yuri-goggles” at times. =P Chances are I’ll be dropping it, but I’m incredibly curious (and scared at the same time) to meet the main’s (Akari’s) sister… O_o
The OP is incredibly catchy…

HEY MISTER!
I AM MADD SSIENTISTT.
IT’S SOU COOOOL!

Steins;Gate has been a highlight for me every week since it started a dozen weeks ago, and continues to do so as the plot deepens and 5hit get’s real. Can’t really write much without spoilers, but I just want to say, that this “Hououououin Kyouma” guy is my new hero.

SONUVABITCH!
